Director / Cinematographer — Tokyo

I'm Callum Hasegawa, a director and cinematographer based in Tokyo.

I grew up in Tsubame-Sanjo, Niigata — a town of metalworkers — watching craftsmen give their lives to the smallest details. My first films were made in their workshops, when I had the opportunity to document one of them.

That's still the work I love most: standing close to people who pour themselves into what they do, and letting the camera witness it. I'm drawn to the real more than the staged — to moments that happen only once, in the places where they actually happen.
